We built ExpressAgain because someone we love needed it.
ExpressAgain started the way most things that truly matter start: with a family trying to help someone they love through an impossible moment.
Our Story
Watching someone you love know exactly what they want to say, and be completely unable to say it, changes you. It's not confusion. It's not a lack of understanding. It's a communication system that has been interrupted, while everything underneath it, the thoughts, the memories, the personality, the love, is still fully there.
We built ExpressAgain because we couldn't find a tool that matched the depth of what our family actually needed. We found apps that helped someone say “I'm hungry” or “I'm in pain.” We didn't find anything that helped someone say “I don't understand why this is happening to me,” or “I want my daughter to make decisions for me,” or “please wait, let me think about this medication before I agree.” So we built it ourselves.
Our Mission
To give people with severe expressive aphasia a way to be fully heard, on the basic needs, on the hard medical questions, on the legal and financial details that keep life running, and on the parts of themselves that have nothing to do with being a patient at all.
Our Approach
ExpressAgain is built around one core belief: reading comprehension and memory are often preserved in aphasia even when speech, writing, and typing are not. So instead of asking someone to generate language they can no longer reliably produce, ExpressAgain lets them recognize, select, and speak language that's already there.
Where We're Headed
ExpressAgain is being built to serve individuals and families first, and to grow into a tool hospitals, rehab centers, and insurers can offer their patients, with the security and infrastructure that healthcare organizations require.
