Newly diagnosed

Just got the diagnosis? Here is this week, in order.

Just got the diagnosis and no idea which of a hundred questions to ask first: whatever the word was, stroke, aphasia, ALS, Parkinson's, dementia or glioblastoma, the first week has the same shape for every family. Understand it in plain words, find your point people, get the patient's information into one place, bring the family in and start planning the homecoming before anyone mentions discharge; ExpressAgain was started by a daughter whose mother lost speech to aphasia and then faced a glioblastoma, and this page and the eight guides under it are the map that family wishes someone had handed over on day one.

What to do this week

Start talking now, or set up the care

The first time the owner signs in, the app asks: Start talking now takes four short questions, the patient's name, where the patient is, the condition mode and one emergency contact, and goes straight to Communicate. Set up the patient's care is six steps and becomes the patient's plan. Just look around first goes to the Dashboard.

Put every doctor on the Care Team page

One card per person: a name, a role and a phone number to tap and call. A card has no login; when a clinician should read the record, Give access turns the card into a login with a single-use code for that discipline, and the person joins at the IDC Team sign-in.

The medications, once, in one place

Prescriptions holds every medication, allergy and pharmacy; a whole medication list can be pasted in at once, and Snap the bottle reads the label. Each medication keeps its history, started, increased, paused or stopped, with the day and who ordered it, and the same list feeds the printed task sheet and the Emergency Plan Card.

Plan the homecoming now, not on discharge day

Coming Home holds the checklists for the discharge conversation, and the therapy team's home recommendations arrive there from their own dashboard, each marked Done, In progress or Need help, so the house is ready before the car pulls in.

How to start

  1. Create a free account: your name, email, a password and who the app is for, with the patient's name. Communicating is never behind a paywall, so nothing on this page waits on a card.

  2. The first time you sign in, choose Set up the patient's care or Start talking now: a few questions, one per screen, saved as you answer, that open the right pages first and become the patient's plan.

  3. From My People, tap Invite family and friends: each person gets a personal link that works once and a role (full access, family, or extended). On the Care Team page, add every doctor as a card to tap and call.

Questions people ask

Is there a page for the patient's specific condition?

Yes. Aphasia, a stroke, Parkinson's, ALS, dementia, glioblastoma, a brain tumor and a new tracheostomy each have a first-week page of their own, each leading with the first week; they are linked under Related at the end of this page.

What is the difference between the Care Team and the Home Team?

The founder's rule, word for word: Care Team helps manage my care. Home Team helps me in my home. The Care Team is the doctors, nurses, clinics and therapists; the Home Team is the professionals who help the patient at home, each with one profile.

We are not in a hospital. Does the first week still apply?

Yes. Skip the homecoming step and do the rest: the account, the mode, the circle, the Care Team page and the plan. The Schedule and Appointments carry the clinic visits from home.

Is it free to start?

Yes. Free is where everyone starts, and communicating is never behind a paywall: tap to speak, the phrase boards, the sentence builder, Letters, the Phrase Library, lessons, Games and Play, the emergency screen, the Emergency Plan Card and the built-in voice. Free also invites 2 family members to the Family and Friends Feed. The Pricing page shows the plans side by side.

What happens after I sign up?

Sign up asks for your name, email and a password, and who the app is for. Then the guided setup takes four short steps: who the app is for and the condition mode, text and button sizes, a voice and the first people, then a review. Entering the patient's name and date of birth pins the two phrases hospitals ask for constantly.
