For people with aphasia and the families around them

An aphasia communication app built by a family who needed one

ExpressAgain is an aphasia communication app for a person who can think, read and understand but cannot get the words out. Tap a phrase and the app says it out loud, in a browser on any phone or tablet, with nothing to install.

What is already built

Tap any phrase to speak it

One tap says a phrase out loud, on the Communicate page, in the library and in search. There is no timer and no rush, and a 3-at-a-time switch shows fewer choices on calmer days.

The Phrase Library

Hundreds of ready phrases sorted by real situations: food, comfort, feelings, medical needs and more, with favorite categories, pinned phrases and the urgent ones together.

The patient's own words

A personal phrase library the family and the speech therapist add to, spoken with one tap beside the shared library. Couldn't find it keeps a typed message that matched nothing, word for word, so the family can add it.

The patient's own cloned voice

A short recording becomes a personal voice, so I love you sounds like the patient, not a machine. Until it is ready a clear built-in voice speaks, so the patient is never without one.

How it works

  1. Create a free account: your name, email, a password and who the app is for (yourself, someone you care for, a patient, or an organization).

  2. The guided setup takes four short steps: who the app is for and the condition mode, text and button sizes, a voice and the first people, then a review.

  3. Tap any phrase on Communicate to say it out loud; invite family with a personal link and give each clinician or professional a code from the Care Team page.

Questions people ask

Is it free to start?

Yes. Free is where everyone starts, and communicating is never behind a paywall: tap to speak, the phrase boards, the sentence builder, Letters, the Phrase Library, lessons, Games and Play, the emergency screen, the Emergency Plan Card and the built-in voice. Free also invites 2 family members to the Family and Friends Feed. The Pricing page shows the plans side by side.

What happens after I sign up?

Sign up asks for your name, email and a password, and who the app is for. Then the guided setup takes four short steps: who the app is for and the condition mode, text and button sizes, a voice and the first people, then a review. Entering the patient's name and date of birth pins the two phrases hospitals ask for constantly.

Does it need an app store download?

No. ExpressAgain runs in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install. On an iPhone, adding it to the Home Screen turns on phone notifications.

Can family help from far away?

Yes. Each family member gets a personal invitation link and a role, a feed to post photos and clips the patient answers with big buttons, and the Love Bucket, the patient's private inbox of notes and voice messages.

The words are still there. Give them a way out today.
