The Phrase Library has a category for everyday life with dementia: Everyday & Familiar. The phrases are short, concrete and in plain adult words. It covers needs right now (the bathroom, hungry, thirsty, cold, hot, tired, pain), where am I and what's happening (Where am I? What day is it? Who are you? When is my family coming? Is this my home?), the people I love, feeling unsettled (I want to go home, I'm scared, I'm lost, something is wrong, please stop), calm and comfort (sit with me, hold my hand, play my music, let's go for a walk, show me pictures), the daily routine (my glasses, my hearing aids, my teeth, let's eat), help me remember (Did I take my pills? Did I eat? What were we doing?), yes, no and quick answers, and feelings.
The people I love group uses the names on My People: for each person added there, a tile asks Where is my son, Joe? and another says I miss my son, Joe, next to Where is my family? and I miss my family.
Choose Dementia and Senior Care in the guided setup and this category opens first in the Phrase Library. The Communicate page then shows an Everyday phrases section just under What you want to say, with three columns: needs right now, where am I, and calm (three at a time in calm mode). Every other mode can still open the category from the library.
The phrases are the person's own words and questions, never medical advice. The app does not answer them or keep track of pills: it speaks the words out loud for the people in the room, so someone can answer. The most urgent phrases carry an Urgent tag.
