When a professional leaves early, arrives late or takes off: the banner and Find coverage

A professional's change of hours shows in a red or amber banner at the top of Scheduling & Coverage and the Home Care Team dashboard, with Find coverage and OK, noted; the schedule grid draws the shift shortened and the hours nobody covers in red.

When a professional on your Home Care Team uses Change my hours (leaving early at a time, arriving late at a time, can't work a shift, or can't work some days), a banner appears at the top of Scheduling & Coverage, on every one of its tabs, and at the top of the Home Care Team dashboard. It reads like this: Jewel is leaving early today at 11:00 AM — 11:00 AM–2:00 PM is uncovered. For a whole shift it says Jewel is taking off, with the day, and for several days the dates.

The banner is red while nothing covers the hours, and amber once an open shift for them is posted (or offered to someone). A Short notice chip shows when the change was sent less than 24 hours before the hours it changes. When the professional works through an agency for you, the line also says the agency sees this too.

Find coverage opens the Schedule grid on that day with the open hours' sheet, where Offer to … picks someone. When the professional asked someone to pick up the hours (they usually do), the open shift for exactly those hours is already there: a one-day shift that is also on Open shifts for the team. When nothing was posted, Find coverage posts it first. For a whole shift given up, the open shift the professional posted opens instead; everyone on the team sees it under Open shifts and the first to take it is on it.

OK, noted takes the banner away and records who said it and when. The banner also goes away by itself when someone is on the hours, or when the professional takes the change back. A professional can take a change back until the shift starts, as long as nobody has the hours yet; you get a phone notification when they do.

On the grid, the professional's shift is drawn with the hours they work and a red line such as leaving early, 11:00 AM; the hours nobody covers are a red Uncovered block in the Open shifts row, which opens the same Find coverage and OK, noted. Tapping the shortened shift shows what was scheduled and what they work. The clock and pay keep the actual clock-in and clock-out times as always, and nothing in past days changes.

The words and the reason the professional chose (Appointment, Sick, Family or Other) stay in the private Staffing notices on Open Shifts. The phone notification has fixed words, the professional's first name and that they changed their hours for a shift, never the reason. Nurses, doctors and the rest of the Care Team, partners and the team feed never see any of it; the rest of the Home Care Team sees only the open shift.

Step by step

  1. 1Open Scheduling & Coverage or the Home Care Team dashboard; the banner is at the top.
  2. 2Tap Find coverage, then Offer to … on the open hours' sheet and pick a professional.
  3. 3Or tap OK, noted to take the banner away once you know about it.
  4. 4Read the professional's words and reason under Open Shifts, Staffing notices.
