Open shifts: Claim this shift, or I'm interested

Each open shift says how it is filled: Claim this shift makes it yours at once, I'm interested puts you on the family's list. If you can't take it yet, the shift says why instead of the button.

Open shifts on the care-team dashboard (My shifts, Open shifts) lists every open shift for one day in the home: a shift a teammate can't make, hours a teammate can't work, or a shift the family posted. Each one says how it is filled.

First to claim gets it: tap Claim this shift and it is yours at once, on your schedule, and the family is told. If someone else tapped a moment before you, you see Someone just took it. The Home Care Team only, and only when you are ready to work in this home.

The family chooses who covers: tap I'm interested, with a note if you like. You're on the list; the family picks, and you hear either way. Withdraw interest takes your hand back. Your hand stays on the list if the family takes the shift down and posts the same hours again.

When you can't take it, the shift says why instead of the button: open shifts here are for the Home Care Team; finish Getting started (or what Ready to work still needs); a required credential is overdue; the shift gives medication and you are not confirmed for it (or the family has marked you as not giving medication); or you already have a shift then.

If your connected calendar is busy then, Claim this shift asks You have something on your calendar then — claim anyway? A yes is recorded, never what is on your calendar.

Weekly open shifts nobody works yet stay below, under Regular slots nobody has yet; I'm interested there tells the family, and they decide. If you work through an agency, your agency office sees what you claim or are given, and may put you forward for a shift too.

Step by step

  1. 1Open the care-team dashboard, then My shifts, then Open shifts.
  2. 2On a shift that says First to claim gets it, tap Claim this shift.
  3. 3On a shift that says The family chooses who covers, tap I'm interested (or Withdraw interest).
  4. 4Read the line on a shift you can't take to see what to finish first.
