Every place a meal is logged has a camera button, Add a photo of the plate: Health Tracking, Meals (the family's and the care-team dashboard's), the Quick log when the entry is Breakfast, Snack, Lunch or Dinner, Snap the meal on Menu and Kitchen and on Eating out, and Save to the meal log on Eating out. It opens the phone's camera; or choose one from the phone's photos opens the photo library. After the meal adds an optional second photo so the care team can see how much was eaten. The photos save with the meal when its button is pressed.
On Menu and Kitchen, a meal logged with Yes, cooking this on the plan, and a drink logged with Quick cup, show Add a photo of the plate once they are logged; the planner then offers Add the after photo. On the meal log, a meal of yours from today without a photo shows Add a photo of the plate, and one with a photo shows Add the after photo, so the second photo can be taken later. A professional adds photos to the meals they logged; the family to any meal.
Each photo is made smaller on the phone before it is sent (the long side at most 1600 pixels) and kept in the app's private photo storage. If storage is not connected on a deployment, the meal still saves and a line says the photo was not kept.
Estimate from the photo is optional: it reads the plate with the same reader Snap the meal uses and adds what it found as the meal's items, to check and correct. When reading photos is not set up, it says so and the photo still saves with the meal.
The photo shows small on the meal in the meal log, in Meals today on the patient's Day and in the Quick log's Today's entries; tap it to see it full size, and swipe to the after photo.
Share meal photos with the care team sits at the top of the Meals tab and is on to start. While it is on, each day's meal photos go into one Meals today card in the IDC Team feed (see The IDC Team feed), and the clinicians see the meals' photos on their Since your last visit card and in the doctor summary. The patient's care team and the family managers see them; friends and the agency office never do. Only the owner and caregiver-role accounts can turn it off; turned off, the photos stay on the meal log and nothing goes to the feed or the clinicians' cards. A meal logged without a photo never posts anything.
