The calendar: Month, Week, Day, By client and By worker

Every schedule screen is a real calendar: shifts as blocks by the hour, a month grid, a status colour with words and an icon on every shift, and a card with the details and what you can do.

5 min readUpdated For: family, professional, organization

Four screens show the same calendar. The Schedule (named after the patient) shows everything on it in its own colour, and for the family the home's shifts too. Home Team management, Weekly schedule: Week at a glance is the calendar, with the slot list and its editing below it. A professional's My shifts has My calendar: their own shifts, Week and Day, in every home they work in with the same sign-in. An agency office's Team · all clients has the Calendar card: By client, By worker, Week and Month across every client home that added the agency.

Week is a time grid: the seven days side by side, Monday first, the hours down the left, every shift a block as tall as it is long. Shifts at the same time sit side by side. It opens at 6 AM and scrolls to the whole day; a red line marks now on today. Day is the same grid for one day. Month is a real month grid, Sunday to Saturday, with the last days of the month before and the first of the month after; each day lists its shifts as small bars, such as 7a–3p Maria, and +3 more opens that day. A trip over several days shows on every day it covers. On the Weekly schedule, the dashed boxes between shifts are the gaps nobody covers, and each day's head shows its scheduled hours.

Every shift wears a status in three ways at once, a colour, words and a small icon, and the legend under the header lists them: Open (nobody on it), Offered (offered to one professional, waiting for an answer), Assigned, Clocked in (on the clock now), Done (clocked out), Missed / late (fifteen minutes past the start with no clock-in), Held for review (the end-of-shift checklist hold) and Paid (on a paid invoice). A red border means the shift needs a look: missed, held, open with nobody yet, a professional booked on two shifts at the same time, or (for the agency office) a required credential that expired or was due before that day. Appointments, family visits and time away keep their own colours on the Schedule.

Tap a shift to open its card: the date and the time in large type, the client (the first name, the patient's photo when the family set one, and the city; the family also sees the service address), the professional (name, credential letters, photo or initials, and a phone number for the family and the agency office), the status and why it needs a look. The card's buttons are the ones each screen already has: on the Weekly schedule, Change from a date, Offer to … and End this shift; on My shifts, Clock in (today, in the home you are signed in to) and Can't make it — offer it to the team; for the agency office, Open this home or Claim in that home; on the Schedule, Open the weekly schedule, Open in Appointments and Show this day below.

For the agency office: By client is one row per client home (the first name and city only), the seven days across, each cell the day's shift cards with the time, the professional and the service or payer line; a slot nobody works is an Open card. By worker is one row per professional with their photo or initials and credential, the week's hours across, a block per shift coloured by client, the days someone gave up shaded, and a conflicts counter in the header that counts a professional on two shifts at the same time across homes. Filters narrow it to one client, one professional, one status or one payer. Shifts move here (drag, or tap and Move or Copy); a move goes to the family to approve unless the family lets the agency manage the weekly schedule. Offering a shift or ending it still happens inside each home.

Where the screen lets you change the schedule (the family's Weekly schedule; the agency office's Team · all clients), shifts move right on the calendar: drag one in Week, Day, By client or By worker, hold it on a phone, or tap it and use Move or Copy on its card. The conflicts counter uses the same rule that stops a save. See Move shifts on the schedule.

On a phone the calendar opens on Day; Week shows three days at a time with first names, and a swipe moves to the next or the earlier ones; Month keeps dots in the grid and lists the tapped day under it; By client and By worker scroll sideways inside their own box, never the page. With a keyboard, the arrow keys move between the shifts (or the days in Month), Enter opens the card and Esc closes it.
