ExpressAgain

Knowing the doctor's office got the summary

Under each send on the home summary page, ExpressAgain says only what it can honestly know: Received, by name, when a person at the office tapped the Received link in the email; Opened, when a clinician with an ExpressAgain login opened the record; or No confirmation yet.

Where to look. Open the home summary (ID Care Plan, Doctor's Records, Send to the doctor, or /records/summary) and open the line that starts Emailed to or Sent to. Under each send is one short line of what the app knows about it, starting with the day it went: Sent Oct 30 · Received Nov 2, by Jane Doe; or Sent Oct 30 · Opened by Amy (Physician) Nov 2; or Sent Oct 30 · No confirmation yet.

Received means a person at the doctor's office tapped the Received link. Every summary ExpressAgain emails from Send to the doctor (Email it to Dr. Sample) ends with one more line for the office: when the office has this summary, tap once so the family knows, and a Received button. The link opens a plain page on expressagain.com that shows only the patient's first name and the summary's date, nothing from the summary, with one button, Received, and an optional name field; the office needs no sign-in. The link works once and ends 30 days after the email; a used or ended link says so on that page. The name typed, if any, shows on your summary page beside Received. Nothing in the summary is on that page, and the page is never listed by search engines.

Opened means a clinician with an ExpressAgain login on the Care Team opened Since your last visit on the care-team dashboard, or the home summary itself, after your send. The app records who (the login's name) and when; it does not need the link. Opened is a weaker sign than Received: the clinician opened the record in ExpressAgain, which is not the same as the office having the email or the PDF.

No confirmation yet means neither has happened. For a summary you sent yourself through the patient portal, or printed or handed over, the line adds: A patient-portal send has no receipt; ask the office or use the Received link. ExpressAgain cannot see the portal, so it can never confirm a portal send on its own; the Received link only rides on an email the app sends. For an emailed summary with no tap yet, the line says the Received link in the email works once and ends after 30 days; once it has ended, Resend with a Received link emails the same summary period to the same doctor again with a fresh link. The resend is logged as its own line.

What this is not. ExpressAgain never says a summary was delivered, and never says the office's chart filed it; it does not see the chart. The chart's own receipts (the HL7 feed to a practice's system, and Direct secure messaging between a practice's chart and ExpressAgain) would give a machine receipt later and are not live; the Interoperability page lists them as roadmap. Until then, what you see is a person's tap or a clinician's open, and nothing more.

Who sees it. The family's accounts (the owner, caregiver-role and family accounts) see the lines on the summary page; a care-team login opening the summary does not see the family's send log. Closing the account deletes the receipts with everything else.

Step by step

  1. 1Open ID Care Plan, then Doctor's Records, and tap Send to the doctor; open the Emailed to or Sent to line.
  2. 2Read the line under each send: Received (by name), Opened by a clinician login, or No confirmation yet.
  3. 3The office's side: the emailed summary ends with a Received button; a person at the office taps it once and may type a name.
  4. 4No confirmation on an emailed summary whose link has ended? Tap Resend with a Received link; a new line appears with a fresh link.
  5. 5For a portal, printed or handed-over send, ask the office, or email it from Send to the doctor so the Received link rides along.
