Shifts that need several people

A weekly shift can need 1 to 6 people at once, each position with an optional role (RN, CNA, Phlebotomist …) and PRN; each position is its own slot, so pay, the clock and invoices stay per person.

Adding a shift. On Home Team management, Weekly schedule, + Add a shift has People needed: 1 person up to 6 people at once. With one person the form is as before, with an optional Role. With more, each position gets a row: its Role (Any, or one of Registered nurse (RN), Licensed practical nurse (LPN / LVN), Certified nursing assistant (CNA), Home health aide / personal care (HHA / PCA), Physical therapist (PT), Occupational therapist (OT), Speech therapist (SLP), Wound care nurse, Phlebotomist, Medical assistant (MA), EMT / paramedic, Companion / homemaker, Other), Who (Open — nobody yet, or a professional; people who hold the position's role are listed first, and someone already on another position of the shift can't be picked twice) and PRN (as needed). The days, the times, the name and This shift gives medication are the shift's and apply to every position.

How it works underneath. Each position is an ordinary slot of the weekly schedule, so each person's pay, clock, timesheets, checklists, invoices and Schedule history stay exactly as for a one-person shift. A PRN position is shown but never counted as a gap and never flagged as open.

The list. A shift with several people is one card with its count, such as 3 needed · 2 filled, and two buttons: Change from a date (for the whole shift) and End the whole shift. Each position sits inside with its role, its person or Open — nobody yet, and its own buttons: End Mary's part ends that person's part and keeps the position open from the next day (the person is told in the app); Take this position away makes the shift need one fewer person; Offer to … offers an open position, with the people who hold its role first. Change from a date applies the shared days and times to every position; a position added starts that day; a position taken away ends the day before, or is taken back if it never started.

The calendar. In Week and Day each position is its own block with the role and the person (RN · Mary Sample, Phlebotomist — Open) and a small filled / needed badge (2/3). The card says This shift needs several people · 3 needed · 2 filled and lists every position: RN Mary, CNA Jen, Phlebotomist — Open. On an agency office's Calendar, By client shows the positions together in one box with the count on top; By worker shows each person's own. A position held by someone the agency doesn't place is counted as filled without a name.

The checks. Two people on at once warns only when more people are on in that home than the positions planned for that time; a move or a reassignment that leaves a position empty warns Leaves the RN position open (never for a PRN position); the same person booked twice at once still can't be saved.

Open shifts and agencies. An open position shows its role on the professionals' Open shifts (RN position) with Matches your role for the people who hold it, listed first. An agency office adds a several-people shift on the client's page, Weekly schedule, Add a weekly shift (People needed, and each position's role, person and PRN); the family approves it unless it lets the agency manage the weekly schedule.
